Rafting!

I'm sorry about it been a while since i've last checked in! Right now i'm on holiday in Turkey, so I thought I would share an adventure with you, this is also a suggestion if you ever come here!

I'm in Antalya, its an amazing places to be in the summer, even though it is very hot, its got so many lovely beaches and places you can go to and just relax. After a few days of relaxing we decided to go for an adventure. This was rafting!

The day starts off early, after being picked up and forced to spend about 2 hours on the bus, which thank god has air con, you get to the 'base camp' of the rafting company. First off you're let to get changed and ready for your day.. but I actually first stopped and looked around because I was so mesmerised by the beauty surrounding me.

Next to this view, they prep you and then you're back on the bus and off to the start point with your life jacket and helmet. On your way it starts to sink in what you're about to do and there's a combination of rush and nervousness! When you get to the start point they tell you to get into the water to get your body used to it, because it is bloody freezing!!!! Thank god the weathers boiling!

Then there's a 5/10 minute trek to get to the rafts and actually get on the water. Just after you start is where the first little fall is located, which at that time seems scary! But once you're over it you just keep wanting more of it!!

The whole rafting part of the day is 13km, you do 7km first, with a stop where you are given the option to jump into the freezing water or just relax after a lot of rowing and water flights with the other rafts. Which is both fun and just cold, by the time you dry and get warm there is another raft after you!

After your 7km's is over you have rafted your way to base camp to have your lunch, and when you do start eating you realise how hungry you actually are! They fill you up with carb's to get you through the next half of the day. The second part was done differently in the two times I went (yes, one summer, two rafting trips at the exact same place! Its that good!) The first time, we just kept going till the finish line, we were also allowed to swim but only one person was brave enough for the cold water! The second time, we had a stop where the whole group played a game with our paddles, which was hilarious. Then we had the same opportunity to swim, but this time no one went for it. But in both occasions the second part contained bigger and more exciting falls.

After all this, you get to change into dry clothes and start to realise how tired you actually are! They take a video of you on your rafting journey, so they allow you to watch that and buy that and/or pictures from the day. Then on the way home everyone is so tired, you just sleep through most of it.

During your time on the raft, you're mostly concentrating on the rowing and holding on so you don't fall (yes it does happen, and its always fun to watch), but when you do look up you realise you're surrounded by so much nature and how beautiful it all looks. The views you see throughout your time there are so beautiful, and because you can't capture it, you actually take your time to see what's around so you can remember it just the way it is. Its important to actually see what's around you, not to take it for granted, its great to treasure stuff by taking pictures, but to actually look at it and remember it is another beauty.

These are pictures from my first trip, yes I look like a 5 year old, but who cares! This trip also allows you to make friends from around the world!

Thanks for popping in!
